Out-of-Network Benefits

If you have out-of-network benefits you may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement for your therapy services by your insurance company.

I can provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance company. Typically, insurance companies reimburse you a portion of your expenses for counseling, but different insurance companies reimburse at different rates.

I advise all clients interested in out-of-network reimbursement to contact their insurance provider directly for more information. Here are some important questions to ask your insurance company:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • Is any pre-approval required before obtaining out-of-network mental health services in order to be reimbursed?

  • If I have out-of-network benefits, will I be reimbursed the full amount I paid or a portion?

  • Do I have a deductible and if so, what is it?

  • What do you need for me to submit for reimbursement?

Understanding your benefits and applying for reimbursement is your responsibility, but I am always happy to answer any questions you may have about this option.

Appointment Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is specially reserved for you. With this in mind, please note that if you cannot keep your appointment, a minimum of 24 hours notice is needed. All missed appointments or cancellations made without 24 hours notice will be charged a $75 fee.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
