Healing from Difficult Past Experiences
If you’re here, you have probably experienced something difficult in your journey.
When you think back on it, it may bring up painful feelings.
Is it hard to find a place to talk about it or make any kind of sense out of what happened?
Do you find yourself thinking, and thinking and thinking… trying to put the pieces together or trying to figure out where things started to fall apart?
If you have been sexually assaulted, sometimes it’s hard to even name that.
Finding your path…
If you’ve had a difficult experience…
You may be keeping it to yourself.
Or the opposite…
You may be talking about it over and over again, re-playing it, trying to make sense of it.
You may feel some shame over what happened.
Or worry that people will judge you if they knew about it.
You may be blaming yourself for being in a situation where this could happen.

People who have had difficult experiences can react in different ways.
Some people find that they sleep a lot more than usual.
Others find that the slightest thing sets them off.
Some people have nightmares or flashbacks.
And it’s not uncommon to have increased anxiety, depressive symptoms and sleep issues.
Trauma Informed Care
Finding your way through this is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.
I am a licensed counselor, and I am trained in EMDR, a type of therapy that helps people heal from difficult past experiences.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitiazation & Reprocessing, and it has been shown to be effective with trauma, anxiety, depression and improving sleep.
Using this therapeutic modality, you can choose the pace of your therapy. You can start small and build from there. You are not required to go into lots of details about what happened. You can share to the extent that you feel comfortable.
My goal is to provide a safe space and a supportive enviornment for healing.
